Our Trip To Japan

Hi Everyone
Sorry I did not post well we were in Japan. The night before we left I came down with the Flu. For the first 4 days I was sicker than a dog. Anyway here are a few photo's of some of the distruction and rebuilding going on over in Niigata region.

No time for recovery, Eastern's 1st shippment came in yesterday, an hour before us. We went straight from the plane to work to unpack fisn. Frank and I got a few from Maruda, Shinoda. Fish quantity was down from previous years. And as far as pricing I have seen others posting that the prices are down 20%. Well we did not see that at all. Yes you can get good deals with the breeders that you have long relationships with. But you will still pay the price for a high quality koi.
We ran into Koinut, Mark Bodycott. and the Lembke's this year. The hotel we stay at, we usually see alot more of the dealers and hobbiest from around the country. The numbers semed low this year. Alot of breeders out of bussines, lots of construction going on everywere. I will post some more pics..

Nancy,

Right... thats what I thought. Shawn has been staying there all week. He just left yesterday to head back to Tokyo. He also saw Tim W and Carl Forss over there as well. Would have been nice if he ran into you and Frank as well!

Kind Regards,
Bill

that's odd. 20% down? with quakes, out of biz, and re-contructions. all point to less supply so the price should go up and up unless koi hobbyists got tired of paying high prices and switch to other hobby.

Hi Steve
I did not say the prices were down 20% others have said this. I did not find that to be true at all. High quality koi are still expensive and some breeders are much higher than previous years.
