Yes, Antonio, I was wondering the same thing. Since Japan is the fatherland of Nishikigoi and all of famous breeders as you put in your list in other thread, all of Koi clubs such as ZNA. etc... I was wonder if there is any effort in KHV research/study in Japan and I posted a thread couple days ago. But seems like there is NONE or they just want to keep it as a secret like Nuke project;-))

Here is the other KHV Research Project in Japan?

Anyway, as koikichi like all of us, I am very happy that at least USA is a the pioneer in this study and I hope all koikichi should help out to make it success. Please remember that koi hobby in USA is still a "fry" hobby as mJen said it, there is no big company or government to fund for KHV research now.

As for Japan, K-B forum is root in Japan and Brian does KB part in help out with this as well as allowing the www.thekoiauction.com for donation for KHV fund too.

I see some USA dealers have already helped out for this project. We would love to see more US dealers/Breeders to do their part too.

Best regards,
--Dinh

Anyone else that would like to donate something for auction to raise funds for KHV research, please let either myself, dinh or Ray Jordan know.

Best regards,

THank you again for your support. I am very excited about the auction beginning next week on Koi Bito. Here is a peek at this beautiful piece of koi art fused glass valued at $1,000+ and modeled after a famous All Japan Show Champion. All proceeds will go directly to KHV research.

Thanks much Steve for your contribution in helping AKCA KHV Research project.

Yes, I believe many koi hobbyists still do not understand how deadly this virus is. I hope not only K-B members can help out the fund, but also help to bring KHV awarencess to general public. As Brian said in the announcement "This dreadful disease that has the potential to effect anyone and everyone if not stopped"....

Thanks again Steve!!!

Ok, here you go !!!!

Some of Koi-Unit members drove me to the wonderful land here; taught me how to select a potential tategoi; how to take good care of the water for koi; how to condition good koi for a koi show; how to really feel the "koi appreciation", and on and on. But never teach me about KHV and how deadly this virus is. So here I am in the middle of the wonderful land. I expected Koi-Unit memebers to raise your voice on this issue. And hoping the Koi-Unit to live up with the good name K-U has.....

Koi-Unit, did you guys reading this thread.......

Best regards,

I am sure we will gather some funds to send to the AKCA KHV fund...This hobby is a blessing for all of us and it can be taken away without notice...I will see if I can collect some funds from the guys in the group who have not given already... But, what I ask is that all in this hobby regardless of dealer, broker, pond builder and hobbyist give to a good cause.

Thanks in advance Tony.

I have attended number of koi shows in the last few years; seeing vendors, dealers, and clubs were there for their ads as well as promotion their products. I am thinking about having hard copy of KHV Research Project and KHV Information Flyers at the show too. This may help to bring KHV info to general public and possible to get some fund too.

Since I can't attend the coming Koikichi Koi Show, can you or any other KB members bring hard copies of the flyer down to the Koikichi show for us.
If it is OK, i will make hard copies tomorrow.

Please note that Nancy already agree to place it on information table during the koikichi show.

Regards,
--Dinh
Here is the KHV flyer:

AKCA KHV Research Project Information

& Support Funding

AKCA - PROJECT KHV OVERVIEW:There continues to be a growing and well deserved concern about Koi Herpes Virus (KHV). The Associated Koi Clubs of America (AKCA) has a history of significant funding for developing technologies and initiatives to promote koi health. KHV research grants are currently being funded and additional research projects are being. The AKCA - Koi Health Advisor program is in full operation. AKCA has committed funds in excess of $150,000 to Koi Health initiatives that include specific KHV projects. But much more needs to be done to help protect our living jewels. You can find much more information about this project athttp://www.texaskoi.com/akcaprojectkhv/index.htm

AKCA - PROJECT KHV OBJECTIVES:Raise funding for targeted and peer reviewed KHV research projects to develop new technologies directly related to short term control and longer term eradication of KHV. Potential areas of research that may be funded are: Developing and/or testing an effective KHV vaccine, potential preventatives, more accurate and available tests for KHV, and recommendations to appropriately deal with KHV exposed and/or KHV recovered koi.

HOW CAN YOU HELP: Please make a donation! There are many worthwhile causes that deserve our financial support. However it is solely up to us as koi lovers, organizations, and professionals to protect the special beauty and serenity that koi provide.

We realize that the amount of donations will vary. KHV research will require a significant amount of on-going funding. We appreciate any size donation. We have been asked for donation amount suggestions so here they are:

1) Individual/family TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation. Please consider making a $ donation based on the number of koi in your collection. Individual/family donations we hope will average about $50.

2) Help us by becoming a advocate of this project with your respective koi/pond clubs. Club donations will hopefully average about $1,000. Individual club membership vary from less than twenty members to over a 1,000. Some clubs have many events and opportunities to increase their club's fund raising ability. Other club's maybe newer or not have much of a club treasury. We have a section on the AKCA PROJECT KHV website to assist with fund raising suggestions. Hopefully, you will benefit from these idea's and be willing to donate whatever your club can afford.

3) Help us by asking your local koi/pond dealer to make a corporate or professional donation. If you are a koi/pond professional you are a very important part of our plans. We are hoping that professional donations will hopefully average about $1,500. We are also looking to partner with a few special corporations that are willing to make substantial donation commitments and become a major sponsor of our project.

DONATION RECOGNITION: All donationswill be recognized in several ways. Clubs and organizations: will receive a thank you letter along with a special certificate suitable for framing. We hope you will display your certificate to help us spread the word about our project and acknowledge your support. Individual/family: will receive a thank you letter suitable for a tax deductible receipt. We are also designing a very special AKCA - PROJECT KHV donor pin for individual donations of $10 or more. We hope you will want to wear these special pins to koi functions to help us spread the word about our project and acknowledge your support. Corporate & professional: Donations will receive a thank you letter along with a special certificate suitable for framing. We hope you will display your certificate to help us spread the word about our project and acknowledge your support. Donation Recognition Programs

Sorry to be a wet sock but the immunity of a fish only lasts a few months.

Here is what I'm doing to stop KHV personally. Not taking fish to any more shows. Ever seen the splashing that occurs from benching tanks? And only buying koi for my own appreciation from domestic biosecure farms that use well water only . Lotusland comes to mind. Sia-nara.
