What was your first Japan experience like?

Since I only went to Momotaro for my first trip, I was amazed at what I saw. Even thou Joe told me I haven't seen shiyt until I go to Niigata, I think I am half way there in my long Nishikigoi Journey...Koi Mecca next year for sure!!!

My first japanese Experience ...I remember it like yesterday.
My Mother is British and we always ate at home. My Father went to "nam, and Mom was less scripted as to what to make for dinner....Chicken Chow Mein...Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Those fried spaghetti noodles!
La Choy beats Chef Boy-ar-dee hands down.

I went to Japan (Tokyo) on business twice in 1983 at a period in my life when I wasn't keeping Koi, but still adicted. It was enjoyable and I saw Koi, but....

I visited Niigata for the first time in October 1999, half way through the trip I decided that it was no use trying to cram everything into one trip. I would have to return several times. I set myself some goals, a Nogyosai, a Wakagoi Show, a ZNA National, the AJNPA Combined show, Isawa, Momotaro, down South, Ogawa and several more. I've been back 3 more times and crossed the first 3 off my list. I am saving myself for a 'Combined' show, but one when things (no KHV,Earthquakes etc) are back to normal. Next mission will be to return to Niigata esp Mushigame.

So my first impression was very simple. I will have to return several times to really appreciate the whole Koi experience.
