The thing we all need is a good talk on how to QT to help stop the spread of KHV. Not many of us have a QT that we can maintain a temperature fore several mounth. Picking out a nice fish is a good thing but if you dont find out is the fish has KHV or is a carrier before putting it in your main pond the results could be devastating. I know that most of the big dogs think that KHV cant get them but you guys are just as much at risk as the rest of us.

Dr. Andy Goodwin from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff gave the best talk on KHV I've seen or heard or heard about at the AKCA seminar in Tulsa this year.

He is one of a precious few genuine authorities on this disease. The seminar was well attended, but he apparently didn;t say what everybody wanted to hear, just the truth without false hopes and undocumented approaches at "cures".

MY TWO FAVORITES TO GIVE INCLUDE FILTRATION AND TOSAI SELECTION.
Unlike some of the comments before mine, I prefer not to give a slide or powerpoint presentation but like small numbers and one on one. Seems attendees feel more comfortable to ask questions in a smaller group and the hands on seems to keep the retention level high.

personally, I like lessons on koi like the kind Toshi Sakai gives when he'll do a master class or impromptu one.....

Knowledge is the main reason why I keep up with this board and the KB publication. i'll attend a good seminar by someone I respect anytime! If it were a "perfect world" shows would have something for begiiners, inter mediates, and
more experienced !

They did a KHV seminar that the phoenix show a few year back. I was shocked how few people showed up for it. I would have thought most of the people at the show would have came to it. I would guess no more then a few dozen showed up for it, out of thousands at the show.
