Andy,
I just fitted an EAsy to my Nexus 200 this last weekend. Keep in mind that I have been an "Answer" man since they first hit the US in 2001 and in fact own US serial numbered Answer 5. I am a firm believer in "seperating" the solids verses "trapping" them. The Answer seperates while the EAsy "traps" the solids. But, the big difference with the EAsy over other forms of entrapment is thgat it is open air (verses a closed bead filter) and yet easy to clean (verses rinsing brushes or matting). The other advantage of an EAsy is that it handles "fines" better than an Answer (but I also use a bead filter on a gravity fed skimmer system with Answer as well so this is a non issue for me anyway). Another Plus for the EAsy is that it will handle higher flow rates than an Answer with a 100 micron screen.
Now for the disadvantages of the EAsy. My pond is inside so I don't have leaves, twigs etc to deal with that although the EAsy may handle, could cause some maintenance/cleaning issues....I don't know on way or the other on this and am just specualting. The Easy weekly maintenance may be a tad more than an Answer but you don't have the quarterly maintenance that you do with an Answer (screen cleaning).
The EAsy doesn't have the power consumption that an Answer has either so that is another plus. Like everything in this hobby, I think the real issue comes down to total system design per the individual and associated circumstaces. In concept, I think that the Answer od a system designed for such is better than an EAsy. But, the EAsy is more versatile and offers a dramatic improvement from the old "sponge" that originally came on the Nexuses.
