Hiroshima Nogyosai GC

Hi Folks,

Have to be on the road in a minute, so can't post much.

The GC of this show was a Sakai FF 83cm kohaku from Rose Queen, picture shown.

Mike Snaden attracted a television crew who conducted an impromptu interview with him. Looks like his mug is going to be gracing the screens of televisions everywhere in the region. Provided he makes it through edit, of course.

Enjoy!

Impressive fish with unusual pattern.

Brian, is the interview for a regular TV program/news report? ...Is TV coverage of major shows common in Japan?

The face pattern reminds me of Ogata's All-Japan Champion at the 21st show...take a look and study it...

Great body. Yet again confirmation why a SFF Kohaku is on top off my list.

Absolutely incredible koi....I love sakai!!

Makes me laugh when I think of all the times I've heard "Don't buy a kohaku with hi extending over both eye's"....Its a koi like this that blows that idea out of the water. It's like not buying a picasso painting because he didn't dot the I in his signature.

Hey Brian,

This kohaku shows that it's not all in the pattern, but as the overall quality of the koi that puts this koi above the rest. Too many people in the U.S. rely so much on pattern that the overall condition and quality of a koi is overlooked. Hopefully this can show a different side that the pattern is secondary.
By the way, you say that Mike is in that picture, but the only ones I see are the camera crew and Mr. Bean?

What you have heard is quite technically correct. But remember that it is just a minor point. When come to koi judgement, Body Conformation and Color are two major things and they can overcome the other....
