Midori Doitsu?

This is a picture of a fish I bought in the spring. He started out black but has turned out to be this cool green and black color. This isnt the best photo but I havent moved him from my mud pond yet. Its thebest I have. Is this qualified as a Midori Doitsu? I am very new to the hobby but think I have a rare fish here.

No, it is not qualified for Midorigoi. Midorigoi is doitsu, but has only one color: midori.

Anyway, it is interesting koi. Remember to post it next year again.

Thanks.

Thanks for the input. I do have one that is solid green, however I do not have a picture of that one. If I get one I will post it. Thanks again.

I also have a greenish tosai with some irregularity in the coloring from this springs spawn, but it is too indistinct for me to identify. It doesn't look like my chagoi which are olive/khaki color. When I bowl it I'll post a pic for your opinions as well. Mine does not have the zipper scale down the dorsal line tho.
Anyone out there have a good Midorigoi for us to look at for comparison purposes?

While midori is widely accepted and popularized as a douitsu koi, wagoi is available as well. Hard to find a really good one......like lots of koi that I like, it's not prospering in gosanke water

scaled midori

Howdy-

I've always gotten the impression that midori were rare for the same reason as AMC pacers, kinda cool when you first see it, but you don't want people to know you own one.

Here is my best ever. A beaut, grown from 9" to 20" in a year but lost by stupidity last spring. Big lesson. The green stayed, the yellow became whiter, shape was wonderfully sleek except for a bit of tuck at her vent.

I have another scaled midori now as well as a couple doits. Nothing near the captivating soft aura of green that developed on the other fish.

To avoid jinx I never say out loud that a fish is my favorite.
