Ooooooh. The body structure is right-on. I like the way the Hi is forming and the Sashi. I like the patterns, too! Joe is right about needing to grow large, but that is what those bodies are about.

Thanks to Dan B for posting and to Ross M of Quality koi for providing the shot.

These koi will be in the mud ponds thru 2007. When the sanke opens her mouth to breath there is a thin rim of kuchibeni that shows.

Of all the kohaku that came out of the mud ponds this year that I liked, my koi had the same mother....

thanks joe and mike for your thoughts.....

thanks Don! I wish i could have them at home to enjoy but the anticipation of seeing them at harvest time makes it worth living without them. Least for the next two years!

It is a conundrum, isn't it? Really wanting to see them, but knowing it is best they be in the mud out of sight? And, which is worse ... they do so well that they stay longer, or the time is right for them to come home?

I used to laugh at my koi-kichi when he first started leaving them over in japan. he'd get his picture out and wonder how that koi was doing and work himself into a frenzy by the time next fall rolled around. I kidded him unmercifully till I bought a showa at igarashi kazuto and put it out for two years. I did the same thing as him, so I was humbled! I have a pic of the kohaku and sanke already
posted at home. They're gonna be my inspiration to get a new pond by the time they come home. Plus just knowing I'll be back next fall to visit with all the great staff and customers of Quality Koi, gives me something to look forward to.
