That was a VERY risky move on their part. They should have bought in new canaries (test fish) instead of placing those same test fish in the other ponds. The process of transferring the virus from one fish to another is not understood well enough. The process with breaking with disease after exposure is not understood well enough. The PCR will only provide a positive result when there is an active infection and clinical outbreak.
