skin quality and bending koi

i just had a look at a kohaku and while checking it over i noticed the scales were not all red on the Hi when the fish was bent, in other words the base of the scale in the middle of the red pattern started as white then became red. i have been told that the Hi in Quality kohaku the that red should cover the whole scale and not start halfway up. and that when bent the fish should show no white between the scales?
i was also wondering if this applies to a fish that is growing fast?

anyone have thoughts on Hi Quality when bending the koi?

i have included a picture of the koi, though in the picture the fish is not bent,
when bent you can see white between the scales.

Beni quality and depth can be determined anytime during a koi's growth cycle.
Granted when they are growing/stretching it's color may not the same as after harvest during winter when they get caught up . But showing white or not means still the same message.

iF IT SHOWS WHITE, IT MAY NOT BE THE QUALITY YOU WANT TO INVEST IN FOR SHOW RESULTS. keep in mind we have koi kepers who view here with no care about showing and if the koi becomes shiro muji, they go out and buy another.

You certainly wouldn't want to pay for a show koi with quality and not get it.

I watched Mat at Quality koi cull a pond of magoi blooded sanke. he saved only the ones that passed the test.....that should confirm what you know to be right!
