I was told that one was a female and one a male, milt was extracted from the male and both koi are the same age and no milt on the other koi. You would think if both were male and the same age you would get milt from both right?

I'm not sure about sexing one correctly...but, my females have a massive build compared to my males...also the bulging tummy will tell you which are females....my males are always long and slender built....hope some one else can help you...maybe closer to spring she will start developing a tummy.mine have just started getting chubby in the last couple weeks...by spring they will be huge...my butterfly spawned 4 times this year

That's interesting about the butterfly Lawanna - sort of like goldfish. What was the interval between spawnings?

their first spawning was March 28...then again in May....July I believe and the last one was in late August after I did a massive water change.....My Japanese koi only spawned once....big difference...oh gosh my shubbies spawned soooo many times I quit counting........all three different fish are in different ponds...the butterfly are in a very shallow pond-at the deepest part it is only 2 foot.....so I am assuming that is what made them spawn sooo often.
