What happened to the interested company? Do you need some help to ge this idea done? If it works on big pumps (and it is used alot for large water treatment and water energy plants), it should work for a smaller scale just fine. A strong plastic impeller, PVC tubing, a graphite shaft, and some PVC tubing with an end plate the pump can mount on should do it. The only complicated part is getting the right propeller, the right shaft, the right pipe size, and the right rpms and proper hp rating for each size. we can even backyard wonder it and fill a 55 gallon drunm and time it to know how many gph each prop/pump/ pipe size combo does. Do you need some help? Or do I need to just go ahead and do it?

I have been patiently waiting cuz I dont want to steal your idea, I've had it done to me and don't wanna do it to you, but if you aint gonna move it forward or let others help, well, we need that pump!!!

Nothing I have ever done have I tried to make a dime from and i ain't starting now...I'd be more than happy to have you run with the idea....the Sea doo propellers may solve the prop part...and on ebay you can get a 5 ft .75 inch diameter rod of SS for about $30.
The other aspects are bearings, motor/rpm/HP, and the bowl that SHOULD house the pump...A "Bowl" will maximize the flow by utilizing the propeller's affect on the water both centrifugal and flow through.

Why the Sea Doo prop out of curiosity? They are kind of expensive if made of SS. Yamaha makes a plastic prop that won't tear up a plastic housing, I think they run around $30 brand new. I think they start out at about 5 3/4" wide.

It also sound like that company does not think it is worth the time. That means they are not likely to do anything as they think it will not be profitable or wise for some reason, or they'd be all over it.

Might be time to look for other potential manufacturers. Not a good idea to have a compnay that drags their feet and does nothing for this long responsible for your product line anyway. Looks to me like they have customer service problems and would be worthless as a supplier anyway since they obviously do not care. Blow em off and move on, they're too dumb to recognize an oppurtunity apparently.

Well, I have my 17,000gph propeller pump running on my koihouse pond for over a month now and I am very pleased with it. Its in the middle chamber and pushes the water back to the pond. I have 4 bottom drains running off this one pump. The flow is unbelieveable.

Hey Greg i would like to know-

1-What prop you chose to use and what it is made of.

2-what motor model hp voltage etc

3-How you built the housing around the propeller.

4-How much power it draws.

5-Any idea how much lift it gets?
I want make one and am trying to figure out what prop to use and what motor to match it with, and how to house the prop.

Bickal is using an "Ice eater" go to their site at powerhouse.com or thepowerhouse.com...i think he is using the half horse...I would hav epurchased the three-quarter horsepower as it draws less amps....

JG,
the Seadoo prop sold for $25, which is a price range you can get these for on ebay. I figure this prop will be more stable and cause less problems down the road than the plastic prop...and I know the guys that are looking at doing a fractional horsepower mixed-flow pump. I am not interested in merchandising the pump. i just feel strongly that the mixed-flow pump WOULD AID THE HOBBY as it would allow all hobbyists to have an unlimited flow of water. I have a half horse submersible prop pump on my pond now and it cranks...probably pushes 6-10 times as much water as a centrifugal "koi pond pump".
But no one with the knowledge and echnical ability has stepped up and made one....except the crude and still wasteful Japanese Lantern pumps...sad that they haven't actually paid someone to design the prop and bowl so they could get the advantages of centrfugal and axial flow.

The thing is to run the numbers on all those things takes time. Also mixes what are typically seperate fields of engineering.

I understand the seadoo prop from ebay may be good for a one shot deal, but hardly reliable supply if you want to manufacture them (which I know you don't). However anyone interested in doing all the engineering work is going to want to manufacture. What diameter and pitch prop do you have on your half horse, and what type and model of motor did you use?

Hey, has anyone tried EA's new biodics?
