Shiro Utsuri babies

Chris Morris and I have spent the day going through the shiro utsuri pond. Here are a couple photos showing a few of the 150 I have chosen to grow on over the winter.
There are still plenty left in the pond which I shall finish off next week, so the 'keep' number will be up by another 50 or so.

Thumbs up

Very nice Maurice,

Any pics available of the parents you used?
Please post pics of your top three 'tategoi' of your final selection.
Will be great to follow their progress.

Everyday is great fun at the moment, I'm harvesting daily. The koi are coming in so fast, I'm not getting chance to photograph them yet.

I'm planning on selecting 1200 to grow on, I'm not sure yet if I have that number of a quality I'm looking for, but it won't be far away. I've some really exciting showa, but time will tell if they will come on the way I feel (dream)?

Tommy, I've not been through the shiros carefully, but this one draws my attention at the moment from the photos posted.

MAAAUUUURICE!
geezel? If any variety ever looked umimpressive, and was actually prone to not show what it was going to be later, it is this one.....ugly little pink, black, grey, and lighter grey minnows that show you one pattern Now and then drop their diapers and bibs and put on their real Evening Gowns in a couple/few years.
Good thing we all know you...and will look at these SU's with interest

Luke, you speak much truth, shiro are a lottery and many a good shiro can be bought from the 'cheap' tank, but the breeders in Japan know the real stars and can pickum early.

These guys posted 'should' come good if I've learned anything. But you know I'll keep you updated!

Remember I picked the KoiPhen banner shiro when only a little baby, she came real good.

I think they look better in person than in the photo's, certainly could see more detail in them on this culling than the last time we culled them .

Regards

Chris
