Thumbs up

You do better by accident than some folk can on purpose
I like the overall look of it. Interesting pattern and a decent body to boot.

I can't take credit for it...one hundred percent accident. I didn't even know they were there for 2 months.
I do think I might have the female....a Jinbeii(sp) sanke...but the GR Showa Male is gone

KFG,
Once you have ONE good spawning you'll never want a fish with this many problems.
Too many "if's" for this koi to turn out good. But I'll keep it till I am sure it ain't gonna be able to do it.....the biggest three If's are
if the break on the shoulder can Break wide open and not just look like weak hi.
if the black condenses and emerges without swallowing up some of the key positioned hi and shiro
if the black in the right eye will surface and provide balance to the face

Luke what ever that koi does. I am still going to like it. It does not matter if I have many great spawns. I think that showa looks good it may just be my personal taste and I really dont think you will go wrong holding on to that koi and if the pattern breaks and you dont like it you can still send it to me. I think that koi would look good in my garden pond at the house. Right now I dont have enough color in my pond. What is the problem if the pattern breaks?

KFG,
look on the shoulde. Do you see where there is a lighter orange line going across the hi? that is a really bad thing. if the fish was a couple of inches smaller it would probably "break" open....but right now it hasn't broken open. it is still breaking though. So IF that break does open enough it will be good, but it id a an "if" that will probably not happen.
(and KFG remember, these are the small fish from the spawn. And only 125-150 (I think this number is way high but I'd rather down play the percentage of "colorful fish that occurred in this flock spawning) of them were ever seen.
After the Hurricanes I never had a clue that a spawning had occurred. i was locked down in the Hospital for three days and when Igot back to the house half the trees (and their leaves) were in the 18 inches of water in the bottom of partially finished "lakeluke". no clue as to a spawning.
And There were more pressing things to do than clean out the lake or take care of the "B" team. All i did for the "B" team was not feed them much at all (which made them rely on their own eggs and fry for food).
I didn't see the first fry till months after the hurricanes, when I could finally get back to working on the lake.

I see what you are talking about but the koi still looks good to me. This koi is still young and may break and have a nice koi to take to the show. Even the way the koi looks now for a young koi it has a nice pattern and color. Im with Larry for a accident this is pretty good. Give it some time as showa change so much you never really know how they will turn out. I can tell you this that is all I know about showa, so being able to pick a showa young is out of the question for me. It would be nice if you could come and help me next spring with the culling and will make sure you get some small koi to take back home with you.
