Are you absolutely sure this is a female? Looking at the confirmation I'd say male. Also looking at the sashi on the beni, it is just about finished. The hi is also very thick and deep red for a female nisai. All that awaits is the sumi development. Should turn out to be a very nice fish. As fas as your goals for this fish- do you plan to grow it out or keep it on the smaller side. If the later is true. then you have a great fish developing. If the former is true, i have a feeling the beni will break and ruin the pattern.

Good luck. Hope your decision turns out to be killer. Keep us posted on it's development

IMHO, the conformation is good enough except she has thin ozutsu. She has lack of shita zumis which would distract the balance between the 3 colour. Though the finish hi is deep but I always look for good shiroji quality which I see a bit yellowish.

Cheers,

I like the koi. pleasing pattern. Yellowish shiroji could be male recently out of the mud ponds. I'm betting it's a boy!

This fish could only be from Koi.com...Sakai Hiroshima fish at this size is probably from Joel. Have to agree with the rest of the guys on this Sanke being male, the build and bone structure says male all the way. The overall apperance of this Sanke is pleasing, sumi is still coming up on the one side. I know your using softwater so I know in the long run your water conditions will give this fish a more youthful apperance later on.

same as other viewers - it looks like a male instead. But no one can for sure the sex by just looking the body and color (This can also apply to human too....).

Anyway, interesting pattern, good deep hi, nice kiwa, sumi is in process of development. The major concern I got is about the yellowish shiroji.... Perhaps, I am not so lucky with yellowish head or yellowish shiroji koi..........

Thumbs up

Other than the male/female question, I'm definitely with koiczar on this one. The body shape and shiroji leave sex up for grabs IMHO. As far as the rest goes, it looks to have quite a bit of potential depending on how the sumi eventually comes along.

I fear the koi could suffer from Jami Sumi (flecks/spots) looking at the right side.
At present it does not show signs of any real sumi on the shiroji.

Keep your fingers crossed.
Maurice.
