Grand Champion is a 91cm Sensuke Kohaku, bred by Matsue Nishikigoi Center
http://www.matsue-sensuke.co.jp/

I'm not sure of the owners name.
Edit, Mr.Takigawa is the owner.

Maurice.

91cm Kohaku won GC
It was purchased as a tosai for about $ 50.00
will get some pictures out soon as I just got home from the airport and get a chance to download out of my camera
Next year show will be in Hiroshima
It would be great to get a group organized to go there
I was the only American at the show that I know of and there were very few foriegners present

I'm glad to see the breeder get some recognition. This guy knew how to breed koi and i was very familar with his stock. I have not heard of his name coming up recently.

his kumonryu and shiro's were exceptional, and unlike sakai hiroshima, his sensuke
kohaku bloodline were more true to the genetics of the bloodline. He had 2 sons as I remember and both were fully involved in directing the business.
will be anxious to see a photo Tony and hear about your travels. Be sure to fill us in Pls!

Dick, you are right about the 'pureness' of his Sensuke line, one of if not the truest line available.

One of my breeders of from this line and very special to me.

Maurice...thanks for your comments. If you've got one of his as a breeder you have a good solid koi!

Maurice, Tony, Thanks for the info. Great to see underdogs winning major shows. USD50 when it was a tosai?! Typo error? If not how cud that have happened? Even if he is not a famous breeder, a koi with such quality and potential cudnt have missed the breeder's eyes. MAybe it was sold for a token sum to the famous Takigawa-san. You can bet his tosai will have more digits after this win..

The pic is bad, makes the fish look ugly...maybe if they had a better shot of the fish it will change our minds...
