AMEN!!!

I'm so tired of hearing rumors concerning KHV outbreaks that end up being BS. There were a lot of problems in the San Francisco Bay Area this past spring. Most all of it had to do with bacterial gill infections - how else would the symptoms be cleared with antibiotics?? Most of what I saw, which were 6 isolated cases (including my own) was a situation where there was overloading due to "new" ponds and customers rushed to put too many fish in too soon or less than ideal fish load circumstances. Mine, I feel, was due to overcrowding of a 2.5 year old system.

As a point of reference: Don't think your filters are mature after 6 weeks. They do come on line and can satisfy the nitrogen cycle but they by no means have "matured". I takes 2-3 years for them to fully function at their peak capacity - whatever that may be based on the filter set-up.

Is it possible that a breeder could have KHV carriers and not know it? Say you drain a small pond in the back forty and find that most of the fish are missing. Easy enough to blame it on predators, theft, oxygen depletion, etc. With all the extra space and food, the survivors look great and are the largest fish of the season.

Im still twisted around by how the Koi world isn't concerned with the fact that a breeder got KHV from someone and even though he knows who it was he won't publically say who it is....to me this means that there isa breeder out there that is closely associated with him that has KHV, and therefore does a great deal of damage to all those that are associated to him.
Whereas just having that breeder/dealer step forward and say where he got it from would give us a public trail to follow to understand how this disease is working its way through the industry...
till it is all out in the open without the "cloak and dagger" BS these rumors will be believed and be damaging
Luke you're a pip!! Pip, did I say that... don't even know what a pip is. Anyway, your ideas on conspiracies are probably right, breeders are responsible for everything including killing kennedy. Although I still like space aliens for the Jimmy Hoffa disappearance.

It amazes me that some people just don't get it. When you have cold hard facts to share then they should be shared with everyone until then they are just RUMORS! Rumors only serve those with ulterior motives... So what is your motive? You just like runnin' around the "public trail" with a rope in your hand looking for someone to string up?

My question wasn't answered in my pervious post...Does the Japanese Ministry of Fisheries have a list of Breeders who have or had KHV? If so is this list availible to the koi hobbyist....
