Send KFG

We need to send KFG on a field trip 'cause the lives the closest. All expense paid (by her that is ), but she'll need to find a good photographer 'cause I'm still hungover from the last pic she posted

The only news I have gotten from an Atlanta resident was the City kicked out all the homeless people in order to have a spiffy 'tourist image' for the new project. She has not visited nor did she say it was open as of 3 weeks ago. The only swimming creatures I have heard mentioned was beluga whales so far.

I live about 45 minutes away from Monterey Bay Aquarium. If I go anywhere else that is Tropical I usually Bring my Scuba Stuff rent a tank and sink in what most places are pleasently warm. Monterey Bay water temp is about 55 degrees..

Hey Joe, I don't know how experienced of a scuba guy you are but be careful out there in Monterey. A friend got caught up in some kelp out there and started cramping in the cold water. It was a scary situation.

I can tell you that you don't scuba if your not certified. Being Certified in Monterey bay is one of the roughest waters out there. One of the Number one rules of getting stuck in Kelp is not to Panic. The other is to have a cutting tool in reach so you can cut it. If all else fails. Kelp is easy to Snap in half like a pencil. Don't pull on it just snap it. Diving in Monterey Bay is all about the kelp. So if you do it you best be prepared..

Too bad for your friend, but most deaths in scuba are from Ignorance and User error.

Joe

They just opened last week, and CNN did an interview with the guy who financed it with $200,000,000 of his own money (founder of Home Depot). They tried to hammer him on the homless issue, (why didn't he give the money to them instead of building an aquarium and why aren't the admission prices lower). He DONATED the money, and the aquarium (owned by a non-profit trust) and they want to pick nits about how he chooses to give away his own money.
Hmmmmmm... Lets see, his money, his property, his life, his choice. What to do What to do??? Give it to street people, the vast majority of whom will either drink it, shoot it, huff it, smoke it, or shoot it ,... or build the worlds largest reef aquarium to be enjoyed by millions... Tough call.
Of course there was no mention of his other charitable efforts, (like support for shelters, etc...)

You lucky dog you ! I haven't been to Monterey in years . We used to go to Locust Grove every fall for the Monarch Butterfly Festival and we always went to Monterey Bay at least once or twice during the trip. It is one of my fondest childhood memories .

Hi all, I going just as soon as the crowd settles down. Will take a bunch of pics and post for all to enjoy, I was wondering the same thing and told Jack I hope they have some koi. Only live about 45 min drive from the place and cant wait to go.

I dont blame him for not giving the money to homeless people, most are drug additicts and drunks and will never be anything else. Atanta Georgia is a wild place, very ,very big city will all the problems going along with big citys. I can tell you this if anyone wants a job and wants to do better with their life Atlanta Georgia has plenty of jobs for the homeless. All they have to do it find one that they want and go to work. I dont fill sorry for most people like that because it is your life and you chose what direction to take your life. Not hard for me to decieded what to do with the money, hell they just made a lot of jobs for the homeless if they want one. They dont know if you are homeless or not so why would they not give you a job.
