Birdmans Pond

I posted a picture elsewhere of my pond with the new snow and Joe, (Keokoi) asked for pictures of it before the snow. So here goes.

The pond is physically divided in two, the upper lily pond is 2 feet deep, 2000 gal. and flows into the lower koi pond, under the bridge. The lower koi pond is 4 feet deep and 15,000 gal. The lower koi pond has a bottom drain which goes to my DIY 500 gal vortex filter, through a superfalls pump flowing 6,600 GPM, and to my up flow bio falls, which has 5 cubic feet of lava rock, over the falls, into the creek, and back to the pond. The lower pond also has the skimmer which goes through a Sequence pump flowing about 5,000 GPH, through a DIY bead filter, through a yet to be bought 200 watt UV sterlizer, and back to the upper plant pond.

My filter pit is 4 feet below water level so it makes back flushing real easy. Right now it's covered by a 10 by 20 foot tent.

I have been working on this for 2 years now. Gone through lots of changes and/or additions. I still need to do most of my planting and landscaping, a second patio, and lawn.

Now those koi are trained to circle-up for a pic without a cup of food on the surface. Nice water, makes me thirsty looking at it. Two years...you got three more to break the record. By the way, I hold the postpone needlessly record and I am proud of it! You got allot done in two years, very nice.

No, you can come and visit and then go climd Smith Rock. I live on the Ranch, (Crooked River Ranch), about 5 miles N.W. of Smith Rock.

I got them at Big R, a farm and ranch store, something like Tractor Supply. They were on sale for $200 ea.

I didn't have to train them. They follow me around like a bunch of little puppys. OK, 3 more years for what? Does the koi pond I had in WA. before moving here count for any years? i had it going for about 5 years.
