I certainly hope you are right. I too trust the open honest breeder who has a problem and does the right thing. Not sure everybody will feel the same way though. they may say they do, but then buy from somebody else. hopefully his intergrity will pay off and he can be a shining example for other breeders to follow. But if his business suffers then it will be a reason for others to stay quiet. The good news for us is, odds are, the first couple of seasons his koi will be less expensive as he trys to regain his market share. I suggest next time we are shopping for a koi and come across a momo we like and can afford, we support his integrity with our wallets and buy his fish. Show the world we admire his actions and trust his koi.

I agree with you there too surfhead. I think honesty should be rewarded. Also the reality though, from my viewpoint, buying from those not testing and not talking is MUCH higher risk. That is how the disease spreads. I have not heard of one person who has had their stock infected by momotaro koi.

The infections come from folks who do not talk about it or have motivation to test. They have motivation to test, and they talk about it openly. Buying some BH or thier food in the meantime will help them through the valley too. We all have to buy food anyway, why not theirs? It's good stuff and well priced.

I would have been amazed if they had been anything less than honest about this. Honor being such an important part of Japanese culture it would be out of character for them to have acted in any other way. One can only hope their integrity will be respected and the long term reward will outweigh the short-term loss.

I absolutely love to hear that they are bouncing back. They handled it with honesty and integrity, and are to be commended for it. My one question is...did anyone ever list the name of the breeder where the causative fish came from? If they did....did they test as well, and are they clean now too?
