Thumbs up Importing Koi from Isawa

Beautiful imported koi after 17 days quarantine - they've been heated to 80 degrees and are looking prettier every day - obviously no problems with these great Sakai of Isawa koi!!! We agree that rumors of KHV are groundless with this breeder.

We'll try to keep you posted as they get ready to join the rest of our pampered babies in indoor ponds. As simple hobbyists, we have learned to truly appreciate these wonderful creatures - possibly to a degree of obsession. Importing these great fish directly from Japan has been one of the great experiences for us in this great hobby!!

Very cool! Pic... and glad your koi are doing great. Have to admit the color is up...

Look like indoor QT... May I ask what lighting you are using?

QT tank is located in the corner of our hobby room, with large windows on two sides. The daylight and sunshine floods this tank, so indoor lighting is not as important.

A question, Dan

Hi, Dan. A question for you, your statement " Importing these great fish directly from Japan has been one of the great experiences for us in this great hobby!!" implies to me that you (your team) negotiated and bought those fish directly from Sakai without an Japanese importer and/or dealer, then arranged shipment to the US. If my understand is wrong then can you explain?

Several hobbists were planning to approach breeder directly (one of us speaks the language) and buy enough to make it worth like a dealer purchase power. Does it work or fantasy talking? MA Le
