# of GC contenders

Your right in that a fish might do very good at one show and fail to place at another....Each region has it's fair share of koi and it all depends on the day of the show...

Maybe in your country which I think the number of jumbos that is entered is higher. The Asian koi hobby, is a bit higher to the US. Here in the States if a show is thrown and a Size 4 (18-20") fish is of better overall quality than a Size 6 (26"-up) it should win GC. It is beauty and overall quality that wins shows (granted the judges eye), not size.
