joe: Your questions focusing on morality belie the notion that you are new to the game. You may not be posting under this moniker on any of the boards I frequent, but you know the questions to ask to cast doubt on showing koi. There is ambiguity in all human endeavors, but I have to ask your thoughts on the ethics of posting under an assumed identity?

Some people don't have the space for a suitable pond to grow fish any larger. Instead, they buy high quality tosai to raise, or buy bonsai nisai which are much more finished. They then condition these fish and enter them in the competition for Baby Grand Champion. I've seen this done at every show I've ever been to (and that's quite a few). One of our club members raised a few fish in a 500 gallon Qtank. One of his ginrin showas was only 10-11" and was 5 years old. Won best GR in size 1 three years in a row. We finally told him he couldn't bring it again unless it was in a larger size category.

You don't really think all those 15-30cm fish you see in Nichirin or Koi Bito that have taken awards at the All Japan shows are tosai do you? Very rarely can a tosai compete at that level. Most of those fish are 2-5 years old, kept as bonsai koi and developed at that size. Every hobbyist has a niche at a show. Not everyone can compete for GC simply because they don't have the space in Japan for the ponds to keep them (unless they're kept by the breeder) but who can afford all of that? Not everyone, that's for sure!

Now that i re-read your post I see you're humor in it! I guess it's like Flip Wilson (geraldine) used to say, "You don't know me that well"!

Why dont you ask questions in regards to koi. Now your going over the top with your threads. Stick to what you know and learn what you dont know about koi. I suggest asking questions that will further the thought process of your hobby. With this being said, why dont you goto KoiPhen where you will fit in just fine.

i want to find out if it is acceptable to the posters on this board to use an assumed identity. i don't see anything wrong with it, but i am new here and learning about the culture.

i got banned from KP. they won't tell me why. some of my posts over there were deleted, some were edited to change the original meaning, and one was completely rewritten with none of my original words. they will not tell me why i was banned, but the owner has posted to me on this board calling me chuckie, newt, and mayor. some things i do not understand.

i was not going to bring any of this up because i discussed it on KV in order to make sure there were no mistaken identitys, and they told me to take it elsewhere.

so, probably best to forget about it and move on.

Heres the thing. I think its safe to say that most of us that post or read regularly on KB prefer to discuss koi and just koi. Koi politics is rarely discussed here because most of us aren't interested or keep our opinions to ourselves. If you are looking for a place to argue with people about one forum vs another or why you were banned I would suggest you go to themudpond.com .

i was just trying to explain the situation when someone recommended that i go to that other forum which i can't because they have already banned me. no argument.

i thought my threads were pretty clearly marked. i don't jump in on other peoples threads and ask my questions, i keep my questions separate. if someone does not want to read or participate, i would think they could just not go to the thread.

and i am not tryiig to discuss politics. i have asked about cosmetic alteration of GCs which is apparently done. i have asked, when asked by another on this forum, about showing bonsai nisai with tosai. are these not germaine to showing koi. i feel that many knowledgable people have responded and i have learned some things from people i believe that i would not otherwise know.

and i have tried to explain why i prefer my anonymity, when asked, and i have tried to find out how the board in general feels about not using one's true name.

why is it not appropriate to do what i have done?

For your information, joe bauer was banned from koiphen because of this crap. People who start crap for the sake of starting crap are in fact, no matter what prejudice you carry, NOT tolerated at koiphen. If anything, the moderation there is sometimes heavy-handed in an effort to keep this kind of garbage away from the board.

Awww Damn...here we go again!!For weeks, I have not seen an interesting thread here that doesn't either:
1)mention koiphen
2)mention politics
3)mention ethics
4) end in a fight!!!

Enough Already!!!!

Can we please all just discuss KOI....remember...the reason we came to this board in the first place!!!
