My New Jumbo Koi...

Greetings everyone;

Below are some photos of my three new jumbo koi, which were imported from Ogata koi farm in Japan. Feel free to make any comments. I'm not interested in entering them into any shows, but I am looking forward to enjoying them in my pond for years to come. As you can see, I purchased two kohakus and one asagi. Additional photos and videos are available on my website, http://www.josephandgabby.com/pond. If you stop by, please be sure to sign my guestbook...

Happy holidays!

Joseph

Note: I see a lot of photos of koi posted on message boards all over the place. Sometimes I'm impressed by what I see and sometimes I'm not. I'm not a "koi kichi" and have no desire to be. I'm just a simple-minded pond owner from SoCal. My point is, I'm not posting these pics so all the die-hards can tell me how their koi are better than mine or how mine aren't worthy of my praise. They look good in my pond and that's all I care about. I'm not interested in entering any koi shows, I just enjoy watching my koi in my backyard ponds. I appreciate you checking out my pics, but please, if you can't say anything nice - please keep your comments to yourself. Thanks!

Joseph, it's always fun to get some new koi. You said they are JUMBO's, how large are they? When I hear the word JUMBO I think 30+".

Since you asked for serious comments to kept to myself I will. But, what I would like to see is the new koi bowled and individual pics taken so we can enjoy each koi.

Pics from the bag look like you have some nice koi.

Tom C, I think he is goin by American Standard Jumbo...anything under 28"

Aquitori;

Thanks for the comments. It's not that I mind hearing serious critiques of my koi, it's just that my goal isn't to become a "koi kichi." I'm just a simple pond owner who likes having a mix of beautiful koi in my pond. I wouldn't have said anything, but I already received one email from a user at another board basically teling me how much my new koi suck. I think my koi are beautiful, otherwise I wouldn't have bought them. Thanks again! - Joseph

I'll definitely take some more pics in the near future. Trust me, they look a lot better in person than they do in the pics. Their color is gorgeous... (to me anyway) Thanks again! - Joseph

People automatically think we like to rag on people's koi when then post pics. We comment the way it is so that you can learn certain things to look for on your next purchase. In the end it is you that bought the fish to enjoy and that is all that matters.

This is a straight shotter board and we are all students of Nishikigoi. "Koi Kichi" is a term used to describe hobbyist whole surround there everyday life with koi, so you fit that term...Anyways, to have a website for your pond is "Koi Kichi"...

Always remember to have fun with "Your" hobby...

The second I picked up a shovel everyone told me I was 'kichi'.

You can be nuts without being a stickler for quality fish
