our man on the scene

Is there anyone to give us a minute-by-minute update on the happenings of THE big koi event of the year? It might be a wonderful article for a magazine, newsletter, or a marathon thread. Who's up for it?

I'm hoping HenryC has some time to post, good internet connections and access to lots of great koi. I think folks would enjoy seeing pics of Carl's operation, as well as a report on the weekend activities.

(posted in another parish, and) said he's home but sick as a dog and going to bed -- so we'll have to wait to see his pix.

They must be suffering from credit card shock--and making plans for all the wonderful fish they bought.

Finished in position:
Henry Culpepper = 34
Ray Jordan = 42

And a 16 year old girl named Emily Mize won!
And the moral of this is . . . . .

Isn't it amazing!! We have a local annual show hosted by one of our dealers here in No. Calif. He has a similar event of judging contest. Match the breeder and win a $1,000 gift certificate for anything in the store (including fish). So far, each year, the competition has been won by a newbie hobbyist. This one lady, who won two years in a row, I overheard some of the comments she was making to her young son while making her selections in each tank. They went something like..." Oooh, I like the pretty red and white one," or ..."Oh, look at that black and red one, it looks like a tiger!". There's definitely something to be said for beginner's luck. This last year, my newbie customer, 6 months in the hobby, won the prize! Is there something in the wind or is it like my grandfather used to say, "Aw, you're not holding your mouth right!".
