Red Expression.....

Hi folks,

In koi world, there are many phrases and words using to explain the "red color" on koi. Here are some of them:

"hi"
"hi-iro"
"aka"
"aka-iro"
"sekishoku"
"matsuka"
"senkoushoku"
"beni"
"beni-iro"
"koushoku"
"shinku"

Can someone explain the true red expression for the above terms in English?

Thx,
--Dinh

Think as hobbyist we really need to know "beni" and "hi"...The rest of the terms I think they use in the AKCA koi judge test...

Not quite sure these terms are only used in the AKCA koi judge test. I read couple of English articles written by Japanese and they used these terms a lot to express different "red" on different koi class.

So what is the difference between "beni" and "hi" in term of red on koi?

Hope JR or other AKCA judges can educate us in this. Love to learn more....

Generally, I've heard beni being used to describe the quality of hi, like "thick beni" or something like that.
