Showa - Opinions Please

Hi everyone,

Please give your opinions on this showa please. I know the picture is not very good. I tried my best to take it. The koi kept splashing and move around. It is a female at 21". Thanks

John

Hi John

It is very hard to give you a fair opinion, when we can not see the fish in full detail. Yes Luke it is a showa.
P.S. we missed you Luke

Ditto, except the body does seem well-shaped & would be better if more white on the head to balance the red and black.

How do all of you take picture of the koi? The koi seems to stay still for you to take the picture. Is there any trick to it? Thanks

John, first of all, start out with more water in the tub. With not enough water in the tub, the koi can't stay upright without moving. If you put in enough water so that the level is higher than the koi, it won't move around that much, and the surface will be less rippled. Put the koi in, and just wait untill it settled down a bit and take lots of pics. Good luck.

The reason I enjoy my digital camera is that I can take a dozen or more photos to get even one that is worth anything.

I have the same problem, even when I have enough water in the tub I try and try and try, but still cannot take pics like the pro's here on this forum. Same as you I cannot get my koi still somtimes and have to wait on them to calm down and then they still move. I want the koi in the perfect position to take a pic and I just cant get it. Angle of the picture that you take has a lot to do with how well the pic turns out. I still cant get that angle. Pic's I take of my koi look nothing like they do in the pond. They always look skinny. But if you see my large koi in person they are thick bodied and look good. Im begining to wonder if my koi just dont take good pics No not really it just me I cant take good pics and I still have to learn what angle to snap the shots.
