That is a very nice Asagi (I am guessing nisai).

The scaling is almost perfect (a requirement with Asagi). The head is clear.

I am a little concerned about the Hi showing on the head and the gill plate: that could be a gamble long term as to the amount of hi.

If I am wrong, Dick will correct me.

PS That is one Asagi I would not mind growing BTW

The clue to her age is in the title of the thread! According to Hosokai (breeder) his fish don't start maturing until they are 4-5 years old. He told me this was one of his tategoi sansai. Then he showed me a gosai so I could see what it would/should look like in the future. Then Torazo showed up and separately confirmed what Hosokai had just told me. I guess I'll wait and see how she develops but those two opinions are enough for me!

Wonderful fish. Do you have any photos of the side... showing how the Hi appears on the abdomen?

Sorry, I don't, but I can tell you the hi is very faint at this point. This fish is definitely a project/wait and see type fish. I'm hoping she develops the way the breeder said she will!?!
