Update on Koi from Isawa

Just wanted you all to know that our 3 new koi have come out of quarantine at Olson's pond in Spokane. We moved them home to our pond in Hayden Lake, Idaho yesterday. They're beautiful and perfectly healthy - so hopefully this will help dispell any rumors that might have been floating around about KHV in Isawa.

This is one of the 3 Sakai Sankes that we will be tracking for Mr. Sakai. She's a beautiful 22-3/4 inches with the most gorgeous colors we've seen!!

This is our new Goshiki - for obvious reasons, she's named "Gem". This baby is 20-1/2 inches right now, so we'll see how she grows in her new home.

"Sassy" is Gene's new Tancho Sanke - Happy Birthday!!

I'll post a few more photos separately - I'm not sure how long this will take to load on the board!

More Photos of Moving Day

We had such a great day that we wanted to share more photos!!

Phyllis, Gene and Sharon admire the new Goshiki before she goes into the pond - thanks to Dan for taking some great photos for us!!!

Here's a snow shot of the koi building - this is why we decided to move the pond indoors!!

And here's Dan & Sharon's pond covered for the winter in Spokane - and heated to keep their babies warm during our frigid weather!!

Gene takes one last look at Barbie before she joins the group in her new home - our 22,000 gallon heated koi abode.

After the 3 new koi joined their friends, Phyllis and Sharon had to spend a little time watching them get acquainted. The warm room made it quite pleasant for both us and the fish!!

Hope you enjoy the update - we'll post more soon!!

Thanx for sharing the pictures and story with us.

These are some great koi. Is the sanke one from the line with the new sumi?

Yes, this is the new sumi. In the year that we have had the three of them they have added more inky black sumi. We are looking forward to following them,
will be posting additional pictures.

Sumi

Yes, this is the new sumi. Last year my husband traveled to Japan with Sharon and Dotti and picked out this little beauty for me. We are going to track the development of these three koi for Mr. Sakai. The other two are still in Olson's quarantine pond, so my photos of them aren't as current.

This photo doesn't really do Sharon's Sanke justice - but we'll post a new one when she comes out of the Q-Pond.

Same story with Dotti's Sanke, but below is a recent group photo that might show them better.

The heavier, Maruzome Kiwa type Sumi.

I hope you all will update us on the development every now and again, since this is mighty interesting.

Thanx again.

Sankes

Hello Again

Yes, we definitely plan to keep posting more on this new imports. As hobbyists we're using this opportunity to learn more about these wonderful creatures.

As we can put it together for them, Mr. Sakai will be posting information on his website www.matsunosuke.com - it's a subscription website, but well worth the annual fee.

The many aspects of this hobby are what make it so fascinating. As we finish our indoor pond, my husband Gene has used his many skills from plumbing design to the physica of air temperature versus water temperature. We've started a private website http://koipondman.tripod.com to post pictures of our progress. I need to add some of the new photos!!

Thanks for your interest
