Pectoral Fin Question

We see pec fins in all shapes and sizes. Some pec fins look like they have part of the top of the pec fin missing. I have seen this even on GC koi. Is this do to the fin splitting at one time and someone cleaning it up?

Here's a picture of a koi with what I'm talking about.

Well, I was the one who personally measured that Showa and I have to say it will grow back. On bigger fish this isn't an issue, because Momotaro's "Seio" had a broken pec fin that healed....We all know what that fish won at the All-Japan Show...

Joe, that was just a koi I found with a fin like that. This isn't the koi I'm talking about. I was just wondering the down side to doing something like this to a koi.

Well that is the darkside of koi shows, but I think it would hard to disqualify a fish for any pec alteration....In most cases they will let the pec heal naturally depending on the severety of the pec.
