Folks,
I've been paying attention to the nastiness that has infected the board over the last month or so, and have had some time to soak it all in. After initially thinking that I could appeal to the good graces of the larger populace, a few comments from our posters have caused me to re-evaluate my original position and bring me to the conclusion that moderation is definitely required.
Now that I've gotten that explanation out of the way, I'd like you all to welcome
jnorth as the first moderator other than myself to the Koi-Bito forum. Jim has graciously volunteered his time to help monitor threads here, and to step in when they need, to put it mildly, a little bit of "constructive guidance." This isn't a small task, and it requires a good deal of effort by the moderator. In each of our busy lives, I for one know that time is a precious commodity and Jim has offered up his time to ensure that the this forum is held to a higher standard of play. I know that Jim will be fare and as impartial as possible, and I think that his conduct here speaks for itself. His contributions are greatly appreciated by myself, and I hope by the rest of us as well.
Debate is one of the basic building blocks of knowledge, and far be it from us to ever get in the way of people learning through debate and application of the scientific method of discovery. Arguments are always welcome here as long as they are constructive and challenge ideas rather than the people behind them. There's no place here for ad hominem attacks, and if that's your bag, then there's plenty of other places that you're welcome to pollute other than this forum. They
will stop, and we will try to be as vigilant as possible in ensuring that no one feels unduly harrassed as a forum member.
Thanks again to Jim, who I can see has already made a great call. You've really got your work cut out for you!
