growth hormone / steriods / ethics

i saw a little on another thread about using growth hormones and steriods to grow larger fish.

what growth hormones would i use and how would i dose them?

what steriods would i use and how would i dose them?

is it ethical to grow a larger fish in this manner?

Why would you want to do this and what would you gain??

If using steroids could this not damage the fish and even give it a shorter life???

Smile Accelerated growth rates

The gene donor of a rainbow trout, a fast growing cold water fish, could allow a fish to grow more rapidly with the inclusion of a single growth hormone producing gene. The transgenetic carp could have a 20-40% rate of growth advantage.

First off why would you use steriods to grow a fish? There are certain bloodlines that grow big anyways, Sadazo and Matsunosuke bloodline fish grow big just based on genetics.

Growing fish to Jumbo size with steriods shortens the life of a fish. To have a fish to 40" at 3 years old would be a feat but then it dies at 4 is a big waste of money.

size is a major factor in koi. i want to grow the biggest koi i can. but i do not want to do anything which is considered unethical or which would damage the fish.

what better place to ask than this board? thank you for your answers.
do you know where i could find more information on this?

It's one thing to grow koi big, but maintain the overall quality while growing it is another skill. Everyones emphasis is on "Big"....I think we each have to define what is big to our ponds....

There's alot of boards out there that can give opinions on this.

Unhappy

How ethical is it to treat a Koi with steroids (really growth hormones)? I think its the same as a human body builder using them to win the mr universe contest.
Do steroids have the same effect on Koi as they do humans?
Is there any testing done that could detect it? I can't see why someone would want to jeopardize there prize Koi to win or get accolades then watch the fish wither & die.

Hate to correct you..but the most pure sadazo sanke are from Genjiro koi farm. Their quality is amazing...but they are known to not grow big at all. They have been mixed with other (larger) bloodlines in an attempt to retain quality while adding size...but the purest of sadazo sanke do not get jumbo. I read this in an interview with Mr. Takahashi Kobayashi, owner of Genjiro koi farm.
