Good personal news...

It has been cold for awhile and the 3500 gallon QT was down to 59 degrees this AM.
But that is the bad news and that happened last year as well. The fish are still moving like they don't mind. The GOOD news is that in lakeluke the temp is still 64 degrees. The difference...no PMS, more sunshine and 46 thousand more gallons in the lake.
I think that lake might be able to grow some respectable flock spawn... time will tell

if you turned your pms off, what is your filter now? Is the water still green?

Maybe you can match the 40" mark with that size pond, or use steriods if the size of your pond fails.

the lake doesn't have a PMS yet...Remember I am poor and cannot buy everything I want, nor fish that grow over a meter...
So yes it is still green. I have some old fish netting in there as a sorta filter right now.
the QT is crystal clear.

Is your ground water nice enough to pump direct, open system? I use to tell my ex boss, who was a pretty organized guy, how poor I was and asked how I could be a big shot like he. David said, in order to fly like an Eagle you have to soar with the Eagles.

I do roughly 5-20 thousand gallon water changes twice a week. the well water is great.
If I ever buy a more efficient (Pro Performance) pump i will do greater changes (cuz it will cost significantly less) and might even have a small dedicated pump giving me a constant slow flow-through system.

My only big water body experience was a pond shaped like a bowl. It was or is 75 feet in diameter, 9 feet deep at the center, carved out of rock with a 4 inch pour of concrete with fiber rods for reinforcement. No plants, fertilizer or run off. A 12 inch bottom drain that flowed to another pond. 12 koi about 14 inches that grew like weeds, that's it. I ran a 1 horse Sta-rite sprinkler pump into it for 20 hrs a day, so that was about $1.75 a day I believe. Full sun exposure and I could not believe how clear that big body of water stayed. I never did figure the gallons
