Mystery Koi pics

First MERRY CHRISTMAS

As promised......Pics of the mystery koi. She is so gentle and tame. Have decided to keep her for awhile. Still dont have a clue as to what the heck she is. BTW, she has absolutely no barbells and there are not now nor have there ever been goldfish in my pond or spawning tanks.

All I can say is WOW!! I've never seen anything like it. How old is it? I think I would also keep it, it's a fish everyone will talk about.

the japanese were/are fond of a deformed head that is similar to that one...Some evenclaim it is preferred...i remember koi with that head shapebeing called "baby-face"..but it was in larger size classes.

So one otherquestion,,,do you have aby peacock bass?

Thumbs up

Wow! With the way her mouth is positioned, she should be able to out-compete normal koi for floating pellets.

I believe I can see something that looks like a barble on this picture! It has a dark end to it! This ones colors somewhat look like a dark Ochiba.

Luke, what you were referring to is called Otafuga. It's those cheeks sticking out, as you mentioned also called "baby face", and normally seen on larger koi.

Myself...if it were my fish, it would get entered in the show at Orlando this March and let the benching crew figure it out.

The head on that koi looks more like a catfish than a koi. wide and somewhat flat across the top. Cant some of us that are members of a koi club send these pics to them and see if they can come up with anything. Its is a very interesting koi and merits a little looking into. Im begining to believe that it is a cross of some kind. I do see the barbel too and it does look like the koi that I have,as far as the very small barbel goes anyway the rest of the koi look completely different than mine and it could also be a deformed. If its a cross of some kind you may have come up with something Keifer

And then its nose almost looks like a dolfin, has a cute little face, and the cheeks.

I think I am going to take some time and look into this one and see what I can come up with
