Really a nice little fish...I like it a lot. The 'lightning' pattern is great. Thanks.

On another subject...I've always heard that 'jap' was not cool. Now, please...I'm not taking a shot at you for saying it, merely using this chance to find out if I've heard right or not. I figure if anywhere on these boards, people here would know. Anyone care to comment? Am I off base here?

thanks. though I highly doubt that the jap word is insulting.

kinda like FIL, AM, etc. (filipino, american)

simply a shortcut to that long word.

if there's a chance that it is indeed insulting. i apologize and would change it if it is.

I hope you believe that I am not trying to find fault with you...it's just that I've heard this and wondered if it were the case or not. My apologies if it upset you, and I know you didn't mean it as insulting to the Japanese, even if it turns out that's the case.

Again, great little fish.

I think the word that you used to shortcut Japanese was used inocently but many will take it as both vulger and highly offfensive. I am in no way bashing you at all, but take it as education as we all should know.

Fil-Am is acutally a well known word and is used in many Filipino type clubs for race.

Aaragorn:

To set the record straight, Newt's right The J word is not cool... I winch every time I see it in print on these boards, usually to describe J Mat...

Fil as in Fil American is not derogatory but Book Book is not too cool, Chink to describe a Chinese person would also be insulting...

Aloha! Mike T, a hapa Chinese Caucasian American, married to a Japanese Caucasian Women...

I work for a Japanese Company and I can tell you if I used Jap in short to any of them it would be very insulting and I dont use that in short like he did anymore. My boss let me know that it was rude and ask that I not say Jap anymore, to say Japanese. I to meant no harm just as a short but they dont look at it that way. Yep you guys are right so it is just a little something learned
