I wouldn't attempt to sell a system like this to a customer of mine. Sure it is a work of art and every thing is pristine. It would and does certainly create that wow factor for a club visit. Would love to know the cost of just the pipe work and valves.

Wow, what a great system! I've seen al the systems before on ponds or as part of a demonstration at a show. But NEVER incorporated into one system! Marco, this wouldn't be your pond by any chance

But the man must have money. Drum filters half the size of these would buy me a new car around here (and cars aint cheap over here).

Redox is used here on fliters using ozon to regulate the system, and on high end filter systems to monitor the water quality.

Since this system was on a French based forum, but the system is heavily German oriented, including the schields in German, I kind of have the feeling this is a pond somewhere in Switserland?! The name Aberle rings a bell, but not sure where right now.

Just one thing, if I had spend this much money on the filter, I would have build me a more exciting pond and garden.

Just right click in the middle of the page and select "Translate this page into English" from the menu . It will translate everything except the german labels in the pictures. (good thing I took german in H.S. )

"Does any one else run Redox?"

Only those that do not understand how an outdoor system like a koi pond is a different dynamic than our indoor aquariums. Think about this-

a marine aquarium- why do we go beyond simple ammonia conversion?
a marine reef system- why do we require extremely pure water?
a koi pond- as an outdoor system with water dedicated to a single species.
a mud pond- a system that benefits from no man made filtering.

Otherwise, this is one kick ass system! Very nice biofilter design and the finishing details are really exceptional!
Tell me if anyone can, does this owner say how old the system is? The alage growth is of a type that speaks volumes about the active microbiology in this pond.

The biologlical filtration looks like a million other folk's filters, they just have stainless containers with spinner bars to move the media around, the barrels are nothing new. The oxygen system is nice, but dangerous for a home application. Pure oxygen can easily explode with one spark, not really worth the risk. The rest is just valves and nice pipe work, ab adjustable pressurization system, multiple circuits isolatable at multiple points, looks like a low tech supermarket water cooling system actually.

The thing I like is the colors of the algae growing. Obviously the oxygen is doing it's job, and some type of seeding and lighting method must be being used to get that growth and keep it in France. Any idea how he is doing that JR? I do not think that type or amount of algae growth is natural in France. Also, I do not see a gassing system or shower to remove nitrates.

Right, your onto it George. The algae is a filter of last resort and as such, reflects what the ambient water conditions are both during and after the manmade or ‘encouraged’ filters have done their thing.

Addition of oxygen and use of ozone are aquarium technology ( mostly marine). Nothing wrong with it per say, as the fish will grow. But the skin on those fish might not hold up? Sakai, down in Hiroshima, uses oxygen injection on some of his big fish and the guy or his dealer may have gotten the idea there? In these cases, the fish are PUT INTO the system for a purpose and for a period of time. It is not their long term living environment. More of a conditioning camp than a long term home. Big difference.

On the redox thing- a natural ORP and an artificial ( imposed) ORP are two entirely different things/indicators, and of course, the interpretation is everything. In one, it tells you the natural oxidative nature of your microbial community. In the other it is a measurement of 03 output from a machine.

Every new hobbyist, regardless of personal wallet size, strives to make pond water are transparent as possible. This transparency is often associated with purity and therefore 'good water'. In koi clubs, the first thing we drill into people's minds is that 'clear' does not necessarily mean 'good koi water'. Ammonia and nitrite, for instance, is invisible. As is a certain level of DOC. But every few years we see a wealthy individual spend a fortune to make water transparent. Sand filters are very popular for this reason. I visited a VERY wealthy guy on a consult a while back who had 6 Volkswagen sized sand filters running his pond! The water was crystal clear. Unfortunately 1/3 of the fish in the pond had dropsy. If he had used ozone, the water would have been just as clear and the dropsy might not have occurred — all would be perfect---- until the next suppressed problem popped out from this illusion of ‘healthy water’.

Really, the tech side is so asthetic, and his pond looks like a swimming pool!

He has to be using something articficial to maintain that type of algae growth, the blue algae and that gree are not natural for his environment. I wonder if he has lights set up that are not shown, or do you think it is just the 03 and 02?

So JR in a "NUTSHELL" its one big A$$ band aid until the sticky stuff wears out? LOL

Anyhow I love the plumbing on this pond. Then again I can't even set my alarm on my clock radio...

Gotta say though pretty impressive from a visual standpoint..
