James, I could not agree more with your comment about the clear water/water quality thing. I always let my water turn green and had not used my uv unit for three years (untill I needed to catch the koi of a friend whose koi where staying in my pond because he was building a new one).

About ten years ago sandfilters were used by koi keepers overhere. But they have fallen from grace long ago. Ozon was introduced back then, was seen as high tech, but expensive to buy and people were reluctant because of the poisonous nature of O3.

Over the last 2 or 3 years, ozon has made a comback for two reasons.

1 Aiding biological filtering systems because of overstocked ponds (small country, small gardesn, small ponds).

2 lowering the TDS to have better growth/development of koi.

The redox meters are used to regulate the ozon unit as to not make the water "sterile"

(who doesn't use ozon himself)

Lightbulb Heat Exchangers and Algae

I think the heat exchangers could be a serious contributor to the unusually good algae growth. That part of the system didn't get a ton of attention like the control systems and plumbing, but it would seriously impact the aquaculture by idealizing temperature stability 24/7.

George, didn't see any O3 reactor in the pictures or schematics. There is a machine that purifies oxygen though (they are normally used in the medical profession ie hospitals)

Just wondered why they are using mechanical means to move around the K1. I use an air disk on the bottom of the chamber, seems so much easier.

It would lead one to assume that the O2 purifier injects at a point far enough upstream of the kalness biofilter that he O2 is completely dissolved in the water. Judging by the sensors and controls it would appear that once they have achieved the precise O2 content they desire, they don't want to add more with an air disk so they rely on mechanical agitation instead. Seems a bit of a waste to me, but then again the entire system is pretty much over the top

Hi to all, as this is my first post on this forum.

About this pond & system: to put things in perspective; this is NOT a hobbyist pond! The owner is a -German- manufacturer of monitoring and controling equipment.
In this system they incorporated all the techniques they have. On one of the shields it says -translated- "demonstration unit".
This is why you see stunning technique and maybe a bit less stunning koi....
About the O2 generator:; this is actually an O2 concentrator as it takes in normal air and filters out the CO2 / N2 etc. These units are derived from the units seen in health applications (for people with respiratory problems) and considered safe for handling by "non professionals". They generate +/- 5 liters per minute at 95% pure O2. In this system O2 is used to optimise the O2 content of the water and suplied to the biological stage (see the reading on the control panel: 10.17 mg at 21.7 C is way over 100% saturation!).
About the hydrochloric acid; this is used to control (in this case: lower) the pH of the water.
Cheers, Hans

So I've tried to find where this pond was located, it seems that is in germany and the owner is the boss of a society of high tecnology Aberle S.A that develop also this filtration system for pond, so it's a kind of show pond.
A swiss koi society sell his system too.

I agree that this is not the system I would like to have,(even if i would like to have the money to buy it), but I think that the traditional filtration is still one of the main ingredient of the hobby.

But what a clean work, everything is clean, ajusted and perfect.
And it's always fantastic to see a good finition like that.

Exactly what type of controls does he manufacture and wish to market?
