Hi Dick,

I appreciate you're comments but what offended me was that you spoke of them like they do not even belong to a certain variety.

I guess I over reacted, but parents often do when it comes to their children
Please feel free to reply to any of my posts in future.
I have come to know you as a gentleman.
Lets try again.

NEVER tell a mother her baby is ugly no matter how big that kid's head is!

This is why I try never to comment on a koi once the owner presents it, unless I get a private Email insisting I do. It would seem that most post pictures for praise and promotion and are not interested in frank, dispassionate review.
Notice I didn't comment!
So don't feel bad Jaco, your just reacting from the emotional side. Perfectly normal.

Just kidding
Thanks James and Dick,
Will keep trying untill James and everyone can only give praise to one of my own bred koi.
Dreams are good friends.
Thanks for all who replied.

Keep going. Use the comments as constructive critisism, it will make your culling eye better for next year!!

I really wanted to experiment with breeding Kujaku, but the female that I bought in Japan died in the earthquake.

well now ya got me thinking...at first I thought "Wow those are some big DANG koi." and then DICK had to be honest and say the pecs were too small...so then i go back and see YES the Pecs are Too Small.....but then I think maybe the Bodies are just too big....
yeah that's it...the bodies ARE TOO BIG.....cull for smaller bodies and the same size pecs ... or find some with oversized pecs to match the over-sized bodies.....

beat me please.

Thanks Guys,

Yes Luke, I also thought the bodies could be too big
Greg I think it is easier to breed good Sanke than good Kujaku.

I want to play with the scale types more than patterns right now, thats why I like the kujaku. A white Matsuba female would be another option for me.

I admit I'm of a Shusui kinda mind right now.... I have only one, but am searching for an awesome kohaku..... I saw one shusui that was incredible, and I haven't seen another one quite like it.... The backbone doitsu pattern was just beautiful... the skin was flawless...... But, you can't find that domestically, that's for sure!

Seriously--Are the Pecs. too thin or not long enough or both? Too small is not descriptive enough.
