Red face No Expert here, but here goes anyway

Woefully unqualified to give expert opinions on showa, but if yours and Nancy's are representative of Ogata (as they appear to be from what I've seen here and elsewhere) then I'm hooked. As a Nissai yours looks strong with a great deal of submerged Sumi yet to be fully appreciated. This is one I really look forward to seeing in the future not only for appreciation but education on showa development as well. I have a preference for the old style vs. most kindai so the bold Sumi really works for me .
(half the time I can't tell a typical kindai from a sanke )

Hi Koiman
Very nice showa, I think you will be very happy with this fish as it matures. We have been very happy with all our showa's and shiro's that we have purchased from Ogata.

Koimann, this Ogata showa looks so much better under your care. Remembered many asked for it during the delivery night but no one actually bring her home. Will be looking at the other one in the big pond and feedback to you for consideration.. Cheers

Ogata Showas are coming up in popularity, because they a bit cheaper than the name brand Showa Breeders and plus they have proven themselves with best in Size at the All-Japan. Nancy, I hope to see this Showa in either March or April. Koimann, you got a really nice tategoi Showa, keep us informed on the progress.

Thumbs up

Wonderful Shiroji and Beni have held position and maintained strength and balance while the Sumi has come on everywhere I thought it should If I had painted a picture of how it turned out in my imagination, this is what it would have looked like. From the looks of it there is even better finishing to come so you should be a VERY happy camper
I almost forgot to mention the body (duhhh). She has really thickened up well. Very full odome.
