Nancy M.,... your Showa?

Hi Nancy,

The Showa in your avatar is pretty incredible! What else can you share on that one? Age? Breeder? Maybe a little history on your decision to get it?

Best Wishes,
Brady Brandwood

Hi Brady
Our showa is a 3 year old Ogata, she is 26.6". Ogata had showed my husband and I pictures of her last October, as a 2 year old, we liked her body confirmation, and her Beni was excellent and her shiroji was very good. The sumi had just started coming up on her head. When Ogata pulled her up out of the mud pond, in November my husband made another trip to Japan, to view her in person, he already had my vote just from the pics, but we never buy any fish from a picture. So when he arrived Ogata told him you will be happy with the showa. The next day my husband looked at her, with our friend Joe Co. They both agreed this was a keeper. So he bought her, we had her shipped home. He also bought a 3 year old 3 step kohaku and a 4 year old showa, with great potential.

Red face There I go drooling on my keyboard again

Nancy, I must confess I've been lusting after your showa from afar . She seems to me to have bridged the gap between Old Syle and Modern to near perfection. Where so many Kindai have so little Sumi they almost look naked yours has that strong, bold look I love about the Old School .

Larry, that is one of the main reasons we bought her. My husband and I both love old style showa's. We both are begining to appriciate new style (kindai). This showa seemed to offer the best of both styles. We have very high hopes for this showa, hopefully we can continue bringing out her quality. Ogata has given us an excellent start.

Thumbs up Hey Koimann

Are your new Showa and your Avatar pic 1st cousins? They have a lot of the same style going for them.
