Waterfall Ideas??

I was wondering if some of you could post pictures of your Koi pond waterfalls. I only have a small new pond ( 12 x 11 x 4 1/2 deep ) so I want to keep it simple and small. I already have a BD w/a 9" diffuser so more areation is not really the goal. I am shooting for more of a "formal look" not sure how to put it other than that. Any help would be appreciated!!!

I like it... But, I like it for an indoor pool....

I cannot take a pic of mine, because it is covered with snow... So that it cannot be seen.... I also had to disconnect my waterfall because the ice had diverted the flow that it drained 2/3rds of the pond.... My hose is currently aimed directly at the pond to keep the surface from freezing to ice.... But, I cannot show right now...

When you say formal, what do you mean? A Roman look? Italian? Greek? Oriental? Tropical river rock?

Black slate? Italian tiles? Marble? Tell us more about your goal with your garden.

Nice garden rengenmeer. I like the feel of the tree, is that a cherry blossom? Nice sculpting on the one in the background too.

Right now my garden is mostly tropical feel, later I plan to flavor it with a more oriental feel.

What does your garden look like JR?

Not quite sure which tree you're referring to, but the red one on the left is a Acer Palmatum Dissectum Garnet. The big one in the back on the right is a chestnut.

coupla thoughts on waterfalls

most folks use the dirt from digging the hole and don't let it settle before they construct their waterfall. end results are cracks... safer bet is to wait a year.

the more and different the components used to make the waterfall that have different heat and cold responses the easier it is to have troubles of separation.

waterfalls need to be designed so that in cold countries they can be turned on or off and redirected back to the pond to avoid a chilling effect.

a final drop of two feet before entering the pond is helpful minimally to add some oxygenation for the effort to construct one....

by forming a chamber with bigger flat edged rocks at the base where the water cascades over the last lip into the pool, the waterfall splash sound is megaphoned across the surface a great distance. If done in a japanese gardening manner ofter you can hear it before you finally see it....

and finally please don't fill a cemented channel with gravel or peagravel as all it does is collect dirt and go anaroebic....
