| Jambo,... Yep, Aquitori is right on! A tosai that is harvested in the Fall at 7" or 8" (average good) can be grown in a heated tank by the breeder over the Winter, and put on 4" between October & March,... this is actually considered average growth in today's Koi world,... so the label "Jambo" can be deceptive,... depends on the growing conditions from birth to time of sale,... and more specifically the size at Fall harvest if in Niigata-like climate.
As Aquitori mentioned, growing this tosai in a pond with other like size and like age Koi will give it good potential to grow, and will also give a "baseline" of how well it's growing,... when compared to the other tosai in the tank.
A true "Jambo" these days will be 10" or larger at 5 to 6 months old,... and should be put in conditions that allow it to continue good growth from there, with no interruptions along the way.
Best Wishes,
