Whatelse besides Koi do you have as a hobby?

On the NI board they were talking about hobbyist burnt out. For me I think I am coming to that point of being burnt out, naw just kidding...sometimes I think that way.

So my question to all who share this board, whatelse besides Koi do you have as a hobby to keep your mind off koi?

Hey Antonio . . .

Good question. It will be interesting to see what other folks cop to.

OK, through the years I've been involved in the following:

genealogy
baseball cards & sports memorabilia
Japanese woodblock prints (ukiyo-e: Pictures of the Floating World)
sports
birdwatching

Anymore, though, free time tends to taken up by my grandchildren.

I used to collect football cards. I had a massive collection too; probably worth over $10,000. I started collecting them when I was 12 and didn't stop until I was 25. Actually, I didn't stop intentionally. My apartment was robbed and I lost everything. It would've taken me years to replace all the cards I lost so I decided to give it up. I spend about more on koi and improving our ponds today than I ever did on my cards...

When I go to Japan to buy koi I try to catch a Japanese baseball game. In the states I manage a Little League baseball team most of the year. I run a koi farm and I love baseball and all aspects of Japan. I also collect japanese scrolls with koi on them.

Well let me think? Most of my hobbies are outlets away from the everyday stress build ups. I like to take the boat out and fish, jet ski, build ponds and waterscapes for friends, target shooting, karate, and winter snow boarding. And I'm just getting into video editing.
But my biggest hobby at this time is making sure my youngest son Cocoy has a hobby constantly. Karate, basketball, boys scouts and Yugio cards.

Smile Mud Pies

My newest hobby is making mud pies. I have enough to keep it going for years to come.
Originally I was into music (I graduated from the S.F. Conservatory of Music), and photography.

Red face

I've had ponds for about 8 years now but am just starting to really get into the "hobby."

As a family we have a lot of interests.
We camp and white water raft.
We are a home educating family. We have dogs and cats.
The main thing I do is travel with my daughter. She is a world class saber fencer. I've been to Europe at least 20 times in the last three years. We even went to a meet in Bangkok last year.
This year the Junior and Cadet World Championships are in Seoul, South Korea. I hope to run off and see some of the koi business in Korea.
My husband is a free lance tv guy and shoots for shows on HGTV, Food Network, Discovery ETC. I have been learning to shoot an HDV Cam and am working with him doing a documentary on making the Junior World Team. We are interviewing the girls and showing a slice of their life.
It could be really interesting.
I am also a potter and have had my studio packed in my garage for the past four years. Plans on underway to get my studio going again. Most of the clay stuff is architectural ceramics and yard art.
