Niigata Onsen Thread

don't know if this has been discussed before, but has anyone stayed at a hot springs hotel in niigata before? last october (2005), we saw several signs for them when driving around, and we got flyer'ed at nagaoka station and the prices were like JPY80,000 - 120,000 pp a night... rather tempting.

i googled this relatively useless site:

http://www.outdoorjapan.com/onsen/onsen-niigata.html

maybe you could steal some buakhaun stones for your filter...

Smile Onsen or hot springs

Thought about it but did not do it. Think about this. I think its back to the magic water thing. Rejuvenating water that gives a deep pore skin cleansing, rids impurities and hydrates skin far a cleaner, brighter complexion and the hot springs water is milky white in color. Pass on this one, enjoy if you decide to try.

Not a hot springs, but Conte Nast mentioned a inn in last month's issue:

Dairo–An, a four–room inn that occupies a Meiji–era house with beautiful woods, handmade glass windows, and indigo futon covers composed of old ikat–weave quilts. You'll feel like a guest of Japanese royalty (25–385–2100; doubles, $135 per person).

At or near the garden of the Itoh House.
