Water parameters for Shusui

This is my first post on this board. I am a new Koi lover. My question is: can anyone tell me or direct me to information as to water paramenters for keeping Shusui or Agasi. I understand that it is more critical for this type of Koi.

I love the blue color

First off welcome to the "Board of all Boards".....Mr. Benbow could tell you more about Shusui and Asagi, but it seems the softer the water is the lighter the fish will maintain itself.

Welcome to the board, wechesser... Good to have you here....

I have a shusui and I believe it follows the same parameters that all koi follow... At least 1000 gallons of dechlorinated water, a good filter, and a great pump to circulate that water.... But, the water condition is most important...

welcome WEC...It's good to have another lover of things blue. Most of the gosanke types like hardness around 200...our koi's colors do better in half that.

Can you post what your kh,ph and gh is?

coupla interesting facts is that Asagi tend to gain red as they grow and age, while shusui tend to be the opposite. Often times by 4 yrs many of the best shusui are loosing their blue.

I sure wanted a shusui from my japanese hero, toshio sakai but fdor the last 2 years have not been able to find one from his maggoi stock. My favorite narumi asagi is from his magoi blood.

you'll have to post pics of yours. PM me for any follow ups
