While Bobby was over at the other pond construction site laying block, Carl and John dug the trench to connect the 2 northern bottom drains, 2 air pits and return to the filter pit. For those that know how tall Carl is can get a feel for how deep the trench had to be to reach the bottom drain lines (those connections are 10' down). Now all the bottom drain lines, pumped returns and air lines are in place. Tomorrow they should run the mid-level pick up and the bakki shower gravity return lines.

While Carl got the other pond construction just about caught up with mine, John and Bobby ran the rest of the plumbing from the pond. The two 4" pipes below are the bakki shower return lines. The small 1" line is the conduit for the underwater camera. The polyurea will be sprayed tomorrow so I will be able to get shots of that procedure.

The polyurea was sprayed today. Before spraying the polyurea, the final prep was done. All the sand and dirt must be cleaned up. While Bobby finished cleaning up the pond, Cary applied an epoxy to each inlet and outlet to seal around them and give the polyurea something to bond to. Each inlet and outlet was first covered with duct tape to prevent the epoxy from entering.

The entire surface is then treated with a clear epoxy paint. Again, this to ensure excellent adhesion of the polyurea to the surface.

Due to how close the pond is to the house, the pond is then covered with plastic to prevent any overspray onto the house. The combination of the plastic cover and the heat applied to the polyurea during the spray caused it to get a bit warm in the pond during the spray. Cary is quite the perfectionist. After the initial spray, Cary, John and Bobby closely inspect every inch of the surface and seal every little pin hole. Cary then sprayed 2 more coats of polyurea over the entire pond surface.

As soon as the filter work is completed. I had hoped that John and I could do that tomorrow but I think they will need to be over at the other pond construction site to assist Cary with the polyurea spray on that pond. Early this next week though.
