respect is such an interesting concept.

there was a guy in our building years ago who was owned a '64 vette. he talked about it all the time. i was impressed as he told me about installing a mechanical tach. he went into great detail about its advantages and how it is done and that he had done it the previous week.

a co-worker later told me that the guy had all the work on the vette done by a mechanic at the dealership. when he said he "had done it", he meant he had paid someone to do it.

i asked around, it was not just me, he tried to give everyone the impression that he did his own work on the car.

i had respected him not only for his knowledge, but his ability. it turned out his knowledge was not based on experience, it was based on reading and talking to others and then sharing it as if he had been there. he had no ability, he just paid others to do his work for him.

worst, he would lead you to believe one thing about himself when another was true.

there are people like that in every hobby, ponding is no exception.

Hmmmmmmm

Wonder where that finger was pointed?

I just love ambiguities like that. I guess I am just to straight a shooter for it.

When I say I remodeled my house, I did it, all of it, from the cement work, to the fishished plaster. I think thats what it should be. Otherwise you would say "I had my house remodeled" not "I remodeled my house".

one old finger

Well , I get both sides of this. Remodeling houses is my business. "I" remodel them but I sure can't do it alone like the Mullet Tiger does.

Also no one has built my ponds for me, I built them, but I am happy to say that a Bobcat with a talented operator is a beautiful thing. Some of us are just too old to be farting around with a shovel. (Finger pointing here, Steve.) (Hey, its a jokey pointy finger!)

I have no problem with people who can actually afford our hobby, who can actually afford to have it done right by someone else and don't know why folks rag about it. What I prefer is the homegrown approach, but I gotta tell ya, if I could afford to have a crew in here tomorrow and boxes from Sakai next week that's exactly what I would be doing. And I would call it my pond and I would call them my fish. And nobody could kiss them but me.

OK Joe

I thought I was clear.

In your post, you are apparently making a correlation to the "friend" who led people believe that he redid his car when in fact had others do it.

Now if that is the case, as it seems, Who are you implying does this in the Koi hobby? On this board? If no specific name, then why even make the post? How would it have do do with this topic?.....all of that ambiguity.

Clear enough?

Mullet Tiger has a learning disability, he had to go look up "ambiguities" in the dictionary

yes, i am making a correlation between those who pay others to restore an old car and then give the impression that they did the work themselves and those who have others design, build, and maintain a pond for them and then give the impression that they did the work themselves.

i am not implying that anyone on this board does this, and i do not know of anyone on this board who does this, but i do know of one person in the hobby who does this and i would guess that there are a lot more.

the thread is about respect, i am giving an example of the type of person i do not respect.

why do you think i am implying that someone on this board does this?
who do you think i am implying on this board does this?
