I like Kohak G...call me crazy, but the standard pattern of the 3 step is good for a show, but in the long run for interest G is the one for me...These fish look more like Maruyama than Marudo in my opinion...

I like the bowl. It looks like a 4 or 5 foot diameter, concrete, wok shaped basin. Cool.

The water is interesting too.

In the Philippines they call that big wok a "Kawali"...The metal makes the koi stand out better Pare'....The water falls short of Pasig River status....Anyways, I still stick to my first pick..

IMHO, I would have to pass on the whole lot of them. C - the shoulder is exhibiting some very weak hi between the two blocks. This is only going to get worse as the fish grows as the biggest growth expansion on a fish is right there.

Tony,

G is too heavy on the hi at the side-base of the tail. Also, you mention that these look like Maruyama - the hi on these fish is much redder than Maruyama's tosai. Not one of the one's we selected is this red-more orange based hi

If I was a betting man, which I have been known to be on occasion, I would say that these were all Marudo "chuppa" tosai and were purchased very cheaply by the dealer.

Kinda interesting...I have seen Maruyama's 2 different types of beni, the persimmon and the kagura(red)...maybe they didn't have any kagura the time you guys went?

They did, but it was in his cheaper tanks of fish - half the price of what we bought!! You ought to see his jumbo nisai though - I would kill to have one or two of those swimming around.
