Your pond temp?

Just wondering about your pond temp? Here is in Northern California, there are a lot of snow in the mountain areas. My pond was 59F last week and it is only 47 F today. Man, it is so cold....shall we turn off the waterfall?

it's 20 F as I write this outside with a wind chill factor in the single didgits in washington state. My water temp? 57 F, I could turn it up but I'm still
letting them feel winter till March.

Yesterday it snow all afternoon, but the snow didn't stay. The water temp of my friend's unheated pond is at 3 C°. Mine (isolated by polycarbonate and heated ) stay at 10 C°, in a few weeks I'll put the heater higher.
Interesting that after one full day and night without electricity (forgot to schich it on), the water didn't drop down (only 0.3 C) and the air temperature was all day around -2 C° and -6 C° for the night. Polycarbonate sheets really works well for isolation.
Have a good week end.

dinh,

Of course there's winter here. In the summer the pond is 77F, 25C. The temperature range does not sound like much, but the birds and bees and fish and plants all know what season it is and respond accordingly. Despite the low temperature right now, the days are getting longer and you can see the vegetation beginnng it's spring/summer growth spurt.

Air temp here on Thursday night was 58F and this morning airtemp is 3F. How's that for stable? Ponds are covered and have been for two and a half months.
