Hi, quiete impossible to say something without seing the eye in natural condition and with an ophtalmoscope.
If the spot is just superficial on the cornea, it will help to put a little iodine tincture (1/3 dilution) but carefuly after a smouth scraping.
If there is a collection bewind the cornea there is only a chirurgical treatment by a specialist, you should try to find a vet who operate eyes, I'm sure he will be interested to treat a fish..
If you suspect an infection because the spot is growing fast, you should inject some antibiotics like Nuflor or Marbocyl (fluoroquinolone).
The origin could be a trauma, a virus or even a metabolic problem with lipid collecting inside the eye.
Anyway, if the spot doesn't affect the koļ and doesn't grow, I would do nothing.
Goood luck, Marco

Wow, this koi is going to be famous in more ways than one.
Saw this on NI and brought it over here thinking I might offer my 2 cents and see if anyone else might have seen it.
Koiczar, may I introduce myself as KK or Gary. The someone is me and the 'mumbo-jumbo' reference I take exception to, low blow.

Flounder, unless this koi has had refractive eye surgery, i would put corneal ectasia low on the list as well. Before this eye growth gets lanced, injected, snipped or bathed, I was just trying offer some practical insight that I have experienced with the human eye...that's it.

Phyllis, hope your beautiful koi gets better soon!!!

KK

I was referring only to the medical terminology being used. Maybe the term mumbo-jumbo didn't fit as well as some other terminology but wasn't meant as a slight, only hoping someone (maybe you) could explain the medical terms used by you and post #9 so the rest of us laymen could get a better handle on it.

Oh, you can call me Jay or you can call me Ray, but my real name is Mike.
